Central Community House records, 1938-1965.

Minutes (1944-1965), bylaws (1938), correspondence of the board of trustees, and other papers relating primarily to the closing of this Jewish community settlement house, which had been organized in 1921. It offered a program of classes, clubs, and recreational activities for children, youth, and adults, baby clinics, and, during World War II, day care.

Central Community House ceased operating its building in April, 1945, retaining ownership but leasing the facility to the St. Paul Community Chest and the Capitol Community Center. The structure was acquired by the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority in 1956 and demolished in 1957. In 1965 the board dissolved the inactive organization and distributed its funds. Board members included Mrs. Lillian Paper, Dr. Robert Rosenthal, Rabbi Harry Margolis, Milton Fireston...
